While students at each grade level participate in service projects, the junior high has several student led committees which organize school wide service projects.
Junior High Service Committee
The Junior High students on the Service Committee have initiated three service projects involving the entire student body.
Jesus said, "Let the children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these." Matthew 19:14 NIV
Operation Christmas Child brings joy and hope to children in desperate situations around the world through gift-filled shoe boxes and the Good News of God’s love. This simple, hands-on mission project helps our students focus on the true meaning of Christmas, God’s great gift to us, His Son Jesus. They also experience the joy of giving without expecting anything in return.
How can you participate?
Pray. Pray that God will touch the heart of every child who receives a shoe box and that many children and families will come to faith in Christ.
Pack a Box of Gifts. A shoe box filled with small toys and other gifts can open hurting hearts to God's love. You may include toys, school supplies such as pens, pencils and sharpeners, crayons or markers, stamps and ink pad sets, writing pads or paper, solar calculators, coloring and picture books, and personal notes. Do not include war-related items, chocolate or food other than hard candy, liquids or lotions, medications or vitamins, breakable items or aerosole cans.
Give. Remember to enclose $7.00 or more per box to cover shipping and other project costs.
Lawson Food Drive: Atlanta Police Sargeant Victor Lawson and his wife have adopted multiple special needs children. One of Heiskell's most precious traditions is our annual November food drive for the Lawson family, spearheaded by the Junior High Service Committee.
The Lawsons also minister to Atlanta's homeless, inviting many to share meals, including Thanksgiving dinner. Each November our families help fill their cupboards with canned and boxed food, paper products, and staples. Many kind-hearted souls also donate toward fresh produce and turkeys.
ACSI (Association of Christian Schools International) Student Sponsorship: Junior High students are sponsoring a 14 year old Russian boy. Their gifts are paying the tuition for his Christian school, where he is learning about God, developing a biblical worldview, and learning life skills. Many children are waiting for a sponsor so that they too can attend a Christian school. Will you pray about partnering with ACSI's Student Sponsorship Program?
